In this series we meet another member of the team behind the appScatter dream! Ollie from Sales.
When I was little I wanted to be…
A police officer. Growing up I watched a lot of police tv shows and fancied myself as the next John McClane, the reality was I would be spending 3-4 hours a day doing paperwork so I decided against it. I did business studies at school and realised that I had a passion for it, that’s how I ended up at where I am today.
My first ever job was…
When I was 13 years old I was a paper delivery boy, after 6 months I was promoted to shop assistant. This meant I had an early start on Saturday and Sunday mornings to sort out all the papers in bundles before the delivery guys came in leisurely at 6am.
In my spare time you can find me…
Exploring London since I’m still relatively new here. If I'm not doing that then I'll be catching up with my friends. There are plenty of apps that I use to find activities to do in London. One of my favourite is Design My Night, which I constantly use to look for the best events in London like pop-up cinemas, festivals and foodie gatherings.
Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
I'd like to have dinner with Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock. He came from having $9 in his pocket to becoming an athlete and one of the biggest movie stars on the planet. I follow him on social media and I think he’s brilliant! He has such a positive influence on so many people and has worked incredibly hard to get to where he is. I think he’d be such an inspiration to talk to.
What is your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?
I would say rowing at Henley Royal Regatta. In the rowing world Henley is like the Olympics, it's huge! I only started rowing when I went to Uni, so to be able to compete despite not being 6ft 5 and weighing 130 kilos was incredible. I was really lucky to have done it with a bunch of my best mates, it is something that I'll never forget.
Back in 2010, there was show called The Young Apprentice. It was a British reality television programme and spin off from The Apprentice. I was put forward by my teacher to be on the show. She submitted a video of me without my knowledge (not in a creepy way!). I think I got in the top 20 and they wanted me to go in for a proper interview. When they called me I thought it was a prank because I had never heard of the show so I turned it down. I could have been on The Young Apprentice!
What is your favourite app?
My favourite app is Citymapper, it has helped me countless times whilst out and about. It’s a travel app where you can see all the transport options, including - walking, tube, bus, train, rail, ferry, taxi and also cycles. I can be anywhere and it will show me the quickest route home. It’s amazing that it is free!
